SLATER SPENDS A MORNING WITH HUNDREDS OF LOCAL BUDDIES

On Saturday, August 3, Billy Slater spent the morning with more than 360 local South East Queensland Buddies to celebrate the Program’s recent National Award Win.

The event, held at Carina Junior Rugby League Club in Brisbane’s Eastern Suburbs, was a great success with hundreds of aspiring stars attending for a morning of fun games and activities.

Running for three action packed hours, more than 20 Coaches (led by Coach Billy himself) ran the kids through some of the Programs fan favourite games and activities. All aspects of the Billy’s Buddies Program focus on children’s hand eye coordination, gross motor skills, socialisation and ability to work in a team.

Coach Billy says, “with over 200 locations running every week it makes it tricky to get out to all of them so I really enjoy these kinds of events. It’s a great opportunity to meet the parents who make this possible, see how far the kids have progressed and ultimately, put a smile on their face.”

Billy’s Buddies Australia General Manager, Alexandra Herrmann, comments, “It was a great event, the parents really love being able to meet their child’s Coach and see them in action but I think the real highlight for so many was the autograph and photo opportunity with Coach Billy. I love that we can give back and provide our families with these opportunities.”

“With a Coffee Van, BBQ ran by the Club’s Committee and Chobani Yoghurt attending to hand out free samples, we couldn’t have asked for much more for our families.”

To highlight the event’s success, Erin Molan, Channel 9 Jornalist and Presenter, highlighted the Programs achievements with the panel on the August 4 NRL Sunday Footy Show. The event was also highlighted in the Sydney Morning Herald and Courier Mail.
